"Building Links: Connecting Trafficked Women with their Community"
Coastal Voices audio clip
A safe house for victims of modern slavery and trafficking is the location for this project in east Kent. Working with Wantsum Arts and a team of highly-skilled volunteers, BTP offers a relaxed and friendly space for women to practise English, develop vocal confidence, learn about community services and build inter-cultural understanding. Our partners are the refuge staff and local health practitioners who offer a monthly workshop to ensure new mothers are connected to services and receive additional support.
‘Growing Together’ is our kitchen garden project, supported by generous individual donors, a garden centre and allotmenteers; we now have a small but thriving herb and vegetable garden. Women plant, nurture and harvest fresh food and plan ahead for women coming after them.
